A 20-year-old Yorkton man has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of a gas station employee in the city.

RCMP have charged Kyle Braeden Furness in the murder of 50-year-old Jimmy Ray Wiebe.

A customer found Wiebe dead at the Circle K Shell on Smith Street early Monday. Police say Wiebe was an employee at the gas station for more than a decade.

On Thursday night, about 100 people attended a candlelight vigil near the scene of the murder.

Furness has been remanded into custody awaiting his first court appearance in Yorkton on Monday.
